Marble develops cutting-edge UAV systems to gather real-time data about maritime environments with unprecedented speed and flexibility. We have recently won an exciting ARIA grant to work on developing artic-capable platform to help a team of international scientists forecast the “tipping point” of the artic ice sheets.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable flight test engineer to evaluate our aircraft, sensor and ground equipment at our Marble HQ here in Chippenham.
This is an opportunity for you to shape the direction of the advanced hardware in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary engineering team developing the impactful technology which may truly change the world.
What you’ll do
- Take ownership of large parts of the ongoing flight testing at the UK HQ.
- Aid in the manufacturing of our MRB5 aircraft and ground control system equipment.
- Gain an in-depth understanding on all aspects of the system, including our electronics, sensors, wireless transmission, and payloads.
- Analyse flight test data, including performance metrics and telemetry. Provide actionable insights and recommendations for design improvements.
- Lead process improvements in flight testing methods, safety protocols, and tools. Contribute towards best-practices & procedures as we continue to scale.


Required Skills
- Holder of a CAA Drone GVC - Multirotor and Fixed Wing.
- Knowledge of relevant aviation safety regulations, standards, and protocols. Experience working with aviation authorities (such as the CAA in the UK)
- Experience flying UAVs. Ideally in more complex environments. Competency using GCS systems and procedures.
- Evidence of flying, designing and prototyping RC planes / UAVs - hobby or other
- Comfortable working with autonomy, with limited supervision but still as part of a team.
- Capable of breaking down complex multivariate problems into simple, self guided tasks.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MAVLINK, ArduPilot, Pixhawk and associated sensors
- Proficiency in languages like Python, or ROS
- Confident with manufacturing methods, such as 3D printing, CNCing, laser cutting and soldering
- Startup experience
